Pink Floyd’s music, but especially David Gilmour’s guitar with its contemporary, enveloping sound, in which every note is expanded by an echo that generates infinite spaces and magical, surreal architecture, are the primary inspirations for this seating system. We began by taking the concept of the traditional sofa and distilling it down to its essentials, then evolved these elements into volumes of their own, blending them together on a base that appears to be floating in mid!air, thereby contrasting the striking nature of the forms with a sense of extreme lightness. The sofa expands into the room just like the sound of Gilmour’s guitar.
